- Whipping on one or both ends - To prevent the strands of the dock line from coming apart even after a lot of use, a stitched whipping on the rope is advised.
- Spliced stainless steel thimble - These thimbles provide good protection when mooring lines are attached with shackles.
- Eye splice in any size - Almost every mooring maneuver is easier when a suitable eye is spliced into the Dockline, so that the line can be quickly and reliably placed over a cleat or bollard.
- Extra chafe protection for spliced eye - The Premiumropes Heavy Duty cover protects a mooring line from abrasion at rough berths, from sharp edges and dirt on the bollard, thus increasing the lifespan of your mooring lines.
Can I splice the Dockline myself?
Of course you can splice the Dockline yourself. The modern polyester construction is easy to handle. We have summarized the steps for doing so in this video: Eye splice in polyester rope. Eye splice in double braided polyester
Why are Premiumropes Docklines so quiet?
Mooring lines made of high-quality polyester, such as those used for the Dockline, make less noise on boolards and cleats than other ropes. For example those made of polypropylene or other low-cost fibres. All mooring lines will start to make noise at some point when the loads increase. This can be effectively eliminated by using a protective cover or changing the deflection or direction of the Dockline.
Do I need a mooring compensator on my mooring lines?
Premiumropes' Dockline already has a lot of elongation and catches a fair amount of peak loads while berthed. Depending on the circumstances, an additional mooring compensator can be used. This dampens peak loads during mooring even more. For a good performance of the mooring lines, we recommend a good quality mooring compensator such as those from Forsheda.
