Snatch block 40mm from Harken's Carbo Block Series with spring-loaded top opening for single-hand use
Harkens Twing Block (Harken partnumber 2699) is a promising new snatch block which can be operated with only one hand. A snatch block is extremely practical, proven and established for rigging a barber hauler, for example on a gennaker, code-zero sheet or for laying a short term hoisting point. As they can be opened, they can also be clipped onto a loaded sheet.
The low friction harken twing block is lightweight, strong and reliable. At Premiumropes we can deliver this block quickly to you, your boat or marina.
technical details
The twing blog has a 40 mm sheave and a working load of 275 kilograms. The sideplates and the sheave are made of UV-stabilized carbo composite.
How does opening the Twing Block with only one hand work?
To open it, a safety hook at the top end of the block is activated, causing the sides to fold open, driven by a spring, and the snatch block can be hooked onto the sheet. When the cheeks are closed, the locking mechanism engages again and the block is ready for use. Another special feature of the twing block: the becket or fixing point is designed as a rotating sleeve. When used as a barber hauler, the trim line can therefore be reeved as a 2:1 purchase system.
