Classic splicing tool for ropeworks with 3-strand, 8-plait and 12-plait lines
This Rope Fid is a tool for splicing made from stainless steel with a wooden handle. It is traditionally used for splices in braided and plaited ropes. The Rope Fid will be pushed between the strands (parts of the rope) and creates space with its hollow design. In this tube the strand to be spliced is guided through the rope. Also used with braided ropes in very large diameters.
Premiumropes offers the Rope Fid in two sizeswith 17cm and 28cm length. Due to its conical form each model can be used with a broad range of line diameters. There are no exact limits. We recommend to use the small rope fid for braided ropes up to Ø10mm and plaited ropes (3-strand, 8-strand, etc.)up to Ø16mm in diameter. If ropes are exceeding this diameter our experienced riggers use the larger version of the Rope Fid. At Premiumropes we always stock both version in large numbers.
